Nutrition & Health
Sharon Coleman Staier, MS, RD, CSSD
Registered Dietitian
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics
I provide nutrition counseling, education, and Medical Nutrition Therapy for individuals and families wanting to improve their health through diet and lifestyle management. Consultations include assisting and guiding clients in making healthier choices at home, in restaurants and at work, the goal being to feel better, feel more energetic and to improve their overall health.
For those who are interested in weight loss, I take an approach of reaching not just a number on the scale, but a more holistic goal of improved health. Many things affect our weight: quality and quantity of foods, a person's stress level, amount of sleep each night, and exercise.
Medical Nutrition Therapy, (MNT) is provided for those who have a medical condition in which nutrition is a key component to achieving their best health. MNT is sometimes reimbursed by the insurance company. MNT can help with conditions including pre-diabetes, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, hypoglycemia, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac, eating disorders, and unintended weight gain or loss.
As a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, I also help athletes who are interested in improving their diet for gains in performance. For any athlete at any level, food fuels performance. An improvement in an athlete's diet, including day to day hydration, can have a positive affect on the athlete's event, meet, game, tournament, and especially practice or training.
